Almost 2 months later

Rylie has been doing great as a tripawd. She goes everywhere her brother’s go, runs down and back our acre fenced in yard, she has even started back hunting in the yard.. a mouse or 2.. Today I dropped her off at oncologist for her 2nd Listeria Vaccine. Ill say that the first vaccine dose did not go without side effects, however even though she ended up in ER vet overnight for fluids and anti nausea medications we still feel its worth doing it again. Our hope is that this vaccine will target any osteocarcinoma cells and kill any micro -metastasis in her body. So to be sick with flu like symptoms for 3-4 days we can handle, plus since we went through it the first time I have plenty of anti diarrhea and nausea medications to pump into her for a few days . Here’s hoping we can not visit the ER for New years Day!

  1. Hi Riley and Kristen,
I am so happy to hear that Rylie is doing well as a tripawd. She is a real cutie! I was reading your previous post about the listeria vaccine without the chemo. Is that what you ended up doing? Our Lucky is 12 days post amputation and is doing well. He will be starting chemo next week but we are hoping to get access to the vaccine as well once he has completed the course of chemo. I sure hope that Rylie does better with the 2nd dose of the vaccine. Fingers crossed that you stay out of the ER vet and have a great start to the new year,

  2. Science Girl Rylie, you are doing so much good by participating in that trial! Thank you. I’m glad the side effects were relatively mild and things got under control. We’ll keep our paws crossed that you don’t have any more issues and until next time, keep on with that rodent patrol!

    xoxo

  3. I could just look at this pretty girl all day long. Her coloring is spectacular!
All paws crossed the 2nd vaccine is without side effects. That would be a great way to start the New Year.
So thrilled to read she’s back to being her happy “hunting” self😎 “Run mice, run !!!” Rylie is in patrol!
    Hugs
